Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Middle Atlas – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Depart from Fes and drive south through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known for its alpine-style buildings and fresh mountain air. Continue to Azrou, where you’ll stroll among cedar forests and spot Barbary macaques.
Pass through Midelt before descending into the dramatic Ziz Valley, with sweeping views of palm groves and small villages. Continue through Erfoud and Rissani to reach Merzouga by late afternoon. Enjoy a traditional welcome with mint tea before embarking on a sunset camel trek across the dunes. Settle into your desert camp for dinner and a night under the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga – Desert Exploration & Nomadic Encounters

Start the day with an optional early morning walk to witness the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, explore the Erg Chebbi area, traveling along desert tracks and passing through sand plains and rocky landscapes.
Visit Tissardmin oasis, home to fossil-rich terrain, and meet nomadic families to learn about their traditional lifestyle. Continue to Khamlia Village, where you’ll enjoy tea accompanied by live Gnawa music, reflecting the heritage of the region. Spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring nearby dunes before returning to your desert camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Cedar Forests – Fes

After breakfast, begin your journey back north through the lush palm groves of the Tafilalet region. Stop at panoramic viewpoints along the Ziz Valley before reaching Midelt for lunch and a break.
Continue through cedar forests near Azrou, with chances to see Barbary macaques, then visit Ifrane, a charming alpine-style mountain town. Complete the drive to Fes in the early evening, marking the end of your 3-day desert adventure.
